photo: David Bailey Daphne Guinness is a woman who takes fashion seriously. She's one of the major players and a true original, so this morning when I read that she would be collaborating with Barney's on a special 6 week art installation titled "Fashion as Art" I wasn't too surprised. What caught my attention was the fact that she herself will be getting dressed in the Madison Avenue flagship's windows to get ready for the Met's Costume Institute Gala on May 2nd. The project launch will coincide with the "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" exhibition at the Met. As McQueen's greatest muse and faithful supporter, her extensive collection of clothing will be on display along with several pieces from the Isabella Blow archives of which she bought the entire lot back in 2010. My understanding is that she'll be getting dressed, in McQueen no doubt, and doing all her own makeup and hair on full display for the public. That process must be fascinating to watch! Again, New York is where it's at. |
