How cool does Sasha Pivovarova look in this editorial titled "Downtown" for Vogue Paris? Joe McKenna did an excellent job on the styling - Sasha has got the Madonna circa 1984 look down pat! The shots by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin are fabulous as usual. Thank you Emmanuelle Alt!

ISABELI FONTANA FOR VOGUE PARIS - JUNE / JULY 2011

Here's Isabeli Fontana totally channeling Linda Evangelista in an editorial for Vogue Paris titled "Canicule." Apparently this is a French reference for a period of the hottest summer days - uhmmmm hot is right! Styled by editor-in-chief Emmanuelle Alt and shot by Mert & Marcus, this pays excellent homage to a 1989 Steven Meisel shoot. On a side note, male model Clément Chabernaud is really decent.

VOGUE PARIS - MAY 2011
Yay! The second cover is more of what I had in mind. Emmanuelle Alt has Kate Moss on the cover and Mert and Marcus behind the lens. All is fine in the world of fashion.

GIRLS ON FILM....NOW AND THEN
The first video is just so insane. I mean really?! this is pure FASHION.
The second video, Girls on Film, was pretty controversial back in the day. I remember it being banned on TV and when I finally saw it I thought it was so glamorous and sexy. Of course now when I watch it looks totally campy and retro, but just as good in a different way.

YAY OR NAY?
![]() |
| Gisele Bundchen |
The rumours have been confirmed as Gisele stars in Emmanuelle Alt's first French Vogue cover as editor in chief. Shot in Dolce and Gabbana by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, Gisele looks like, well....Gisele. The cover isn't particularly stunning in my opinion, the adjectives pretty and ethereal come to mind. Hmmmm, Alt's highly anticipated debut is off to a fairly tame start. BUT in all fairness to her, it's really too early to see what direction she takes the magazine. Carine Roitfeld was known for her edgy, sexy, provocative covers so it wouldn't really be that cool if she just followed in her footsteps. I'm hoping she'll bring her own, unique signature to Vogue and judging by her style and attitude I have no doubt she will.
